A Texan in Krems

At the roundabout next to the Wiener Brücke you see the statue of a Texan Cowboy with a lantern. Who is he?

Well, since 1994 the City of Grapevine, Texas (USA), ist the partner city of Krems. On top of their town hall there is the very same statue of a cowboy-watchman guarding the the citizens. There as here, watchmen were responsible for law and order. Besides, a town named Grapevine is the perfect partner for a wine city like Krems!

By the way, in 2014, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the two cities, the Trachtenmusikkapelle Rossatz / Wachau went to Grapevine on a concert tour during which they even played at the Dallas Cowboys‘ football stadium!
