Description

Kunsthalle Krems is the only public art gallery in Lower Austria and considers itself a national cultural institution.

Housed in the historical tobacco factory on Franz-Zeller-Platz, Kunsthalle Krems is the international exhibition venue in Lower Austria for modern and contemporary art. With its more than 20-year history, it is the longest operating institution along the art mile in Krems. Other highlights there are Forum Frohner and the Caricature Museum Krems as well as the former Dominican Church, which has served as a further location for Kunsthalle Krems since 2017.

The spectacular new art museum Landesgalerie Niederösterreich opens its doors in 2019. Kunsthalle Krems displays international post-1945 art. Art Director Florian Steininger puts a special focus on contemporary pieces. The mixture of solo and themed exhibitions featuring established and emerging artists from Austria and abroad as well as the inter-media orientation are evident in the annual program for 2019, too.
