Forum Frohner

The Forum Frohner is located in Krems-Stein on the grounds of the former minorites monastery, which founded in the early 13th century in the lifetime of St. Francis of Assisi.

The Forum Frohner exhibition centre was opened in 2007. It shows the oeuvre of Adolf Frohner (1934 – 2007), an Austrian artist, painter and sculptor. He was a student of Herbert Böckl and member of the Vienna Actionism-movement.

The Forum Frohner opposes Frohner’s artistic pieces with the creations of national and international artists. The exhibition hall is called „forum“ and instead of „museum“ as Frohner thought a museum could be dedicated only to dead persons. On the contrary, a forum is a place where people and ideas meet. Unfortunately, he died only shortly after the groundbreaking ceremony of his forum.

Nowadays, the Forum Frohner is part of the Kunstmeile Krems, the former monastery church is a venue for concerts, festivals and sound installations.
