North of Krems

Behind the Paffenberg, facing the Waldviertel, lies the Sommerleithen, where the vineyards lean towards the south. These comprise the majority of the vineyards from Egelsee that extend to Rehberg. Further west, we first reach the Ried Kremsleiten, whose grand terraces comprised of primary rock and sandy upper floors face south and southwest. There is no question that the Riesling dominates these plains. From there on north we see the northern high plateau and thus the well-known pitches between Imbach and Senftenberg: Pfenningberg, Pellinger, Hochäcker, Rammeln and the picturesque Ehrenfels directly under the ruins of Senftenberg. In addition to its well known crystalline surface, thanks to the particularly high differences between day and night temperatures, a distinct and sharp flavour is developed. A fact from which Veltliner and Riesling benefit equally.

To the east, the vineyards of Kiesling and Gärtling are to be identified on the plateau halfway between Imbach and Stratzing, a wine-growing town northeast of Krems. A little further north-west are the tusks Priel at the foot of the Gföhlerwald Dross, which meets the wine-growing region in the direction of the Waldviertel and Kamptal.
