Wine in Krems

Krems, a more than 1,000 year old, is a testament to the Austrian winegrowing tradition. The historical traces in Krems lead us back to the Middle Ages, from the Roman and Celts to the Paleolithic. The cultivation of viticulture has been closely associated with the settlement of the Krems region since early times.

In the districts of Krems, Stein, Egelsee, Rehberg, Gneixendorf, Hollenburg, Angern and Thallern, fine wines of the highest quality thrive. The wine varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling deserve a special mention.

The cellars of the Kremser Weinhauer,  Buschenschenken and  taverns of qualified wine companies, especially the city's own winery, are all open to all you wine enthusiasts.
