Aromatic climate

Although located north of a wine-growing region, the Krems Valley has very good climatic conditions for viticulture. As in the surrounding areas, the hot, Pannonian climate from the east meets the cooler, continental-influenced climate of the higher forest district. During the day, the region warms up quickly, in the evening the cool forest air flows in from the northern valleys and ditches, which can lead to temperature differences of up to 25 ° C. The change from hot days, especially during the autumn ripening period, to cooler nights plays an essential role in the development of flavors.

The Danube current is of considerable climatic importance, playing the role of a thermostat and also acting against frost because of the flow movement that causes constant air circulation.
